Cesar Chavez Language Academy is a Two Way Immersion Program serving English Only and English Learner students in Santa Rosa. We are a Dependent Charter School in the Santa Rosa City School District. Our school opened in 2013 we now offer a TK-8th grade program.
We are projected to have around 950 students. In addition to instruction of the Common Core State Standards in English and Spanish, our students also have Art, Science, Music & PE classes. For our Middle School students we also offer a variety of Electives & After School Sports.
After a five-month pilot, CCLA's Middle School ELA Department is seeking to adopt McGraw Hill's StudySync curriculum. The outcome of this adoption will be a fully aligned English Language Arts Department, with common assessments, and scope and sequence, to ensure all students are being provided a comprehensive and equitable ELA program. The students will be engaged in the learning process, and our ELLs provided explicit and scaffolded vocabulary instruction, language acquisition, and reading comprehension. Students will participate in academic discourse, peer editing, and rigorous reading routines to dynamically instruct them toward mastery. StudySync integrates reading and writing, has embedded skill lessons, an ELL path, extended writing projects, and assessments. To review the curriculum, please view StudySync Student View. To provide community feedback, please complete this online form. Materials will be available in the library for viewing until Wednesday, May 18th.
